Our people
Tim Hurst
Tim Hurst has over 20 years of experience coaching across a range of business sectors which include Insurance, Information Technology; Professional Qualifications Bodies, Formula 1 Racing, Manufacturing, Sales and Distribution, Specialist Health Authorities, Retailing and Recruitment.
Tim frames his coaching support with both the business need and individual characteristics in mind. Often starting with detailed psychometrics to establish a baseline, he builds rapport and adopts different approaches, some directive, some reflective to achieve the agreed aims. He is always supportive, but will never shy away from a reality check.
Tim’s coaching assignments include individual executives, managers, team leaders and teams. He has worked across various sectors with organisations as diverse as Williams Formula 1 Racing, the NHS Litigation Authority Randstad, Jungheinrich, The Association of Accounting Technicians, Millbrook Proving Ground (Automotive) AON Benfield, Allianz, Starr Underwriting, RFIB and Hyperion.
Non-threatening, down to earth, his style reflects the experiences of a diverse career in HR which taught him to be surprised by nothing. Tim is very experienced in dealing with entrenched and sometimes challenging behaviours, management inexperience, conflict, and dysfunctional teams. He also has extensive senior level career management experience which, being akin to coaching, requires resilience, tact, and flexibility.
As a very experienced user of psychometric instruments, Tim is concerned to balance the jargon and technicalities with common sense and context. He deals with resistance and barriers with a mixture of good humour and focused clarity. Enthusiastic engagement with, and honest feedback from his clients, is prized.
Tim is a qualified, registered test user and member of the British Psychological Society, a long standing CEB-SHL Premier Partner and a 30 year member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. In 2012 he was admitted (by experience) as a full member to the Association for Coaching, a leading independent, and not-for-profit professional body dedicated to promoting best practice.
Tim’s goal is to remain a consultant who operates in the real world…
